Petra Rahm har studert ved Stockholms universitet og Kunst- og designhøgskolen i Bergen. Hun arbeider hovedsakelig med tekstil, collage og funne materialer – de siste årene med plantefarget tekstil og papir, broderi og silketrykk. Uttrykket er nedtonet og subtilt, med fokus på møtet mellom materialer, foranderlighet og spor av tid. Hun arbeider intuitivt og lyttende, og fanger opp stemninger og historier i møte med mennesker, steder og materialer.
Ved siden av sin atelierbaserte praksis samarbeider hun ofte med andre og inviterer mennesker inn i arbeidet. Hun er opptatt av kunstens rolle i lokalsamfunnet og møtet mellom kunst, sted og folk – noe som blant annet resulterte i boken Finna stad (2026), utgitt på Skald forlag sammen med Tone Einelia.
Petra Rahm studied at Stockholm University and Bergen Academy of Art and Design. She works primarily with textile, collage, and found materials – in recent years with plant-dyed textile and paper, embroidery, and silk screen printing. Her expression is understated and subtle, focusing on the juxtaposition of materials, transience, and traces of time. She works intuitively and attentively, capturing moods and stories in her encounters with people, places, and materials.
Alongside her studio-based practice, she often collaborates with others and invites people into her work. She is interested in the role of art in the local community and the meeting between art, place, and people – which, among other things, resulted in the book Finna stad (2026), published at Skald forlag, together with Tone Einelia.
