BAG Art Camp 2021

(w)ORD : EBBE+FLOW TOURING EXHIBITION

(w)ORD : EBBE+FLOW is a touring exhibition, stemming from (w)ORD, a four years collaborative communication and artistic research project between nine artists based in Norway and Scotland: Sarah Jost, Marit Tunestveit Dyre, David Faithfull, Rhona Fleming, David Lemm, Jon Macleod, Imi Maufe, Randi Annie Strand and Calum Wallis. The project is curated by David Faithfull and Imi Maufe (BAG).

(w)ORD started with two BAG Art Camp/Society of Scottish Artists residencies, first at Tormore on the Isle of Mull, Scotland, (2018) and then in Bergen and Tjuvika in Gulen, Norway (2019). Each residency investigated language, landscape and history with invited geologists, scientists, linguists and local inhabitants taking part in seminars and field trips alongside the artists. Information about the two residencies can be found on this website under BAG Art Camp 2018 and 2019.

(w)ORD: EBBE+FLOW is presented in a specially designed chest (kist) containing individual drawers for each artist, and a display space for flat work, unfolding to reveal sculptures, drawings, prints, video and artefacts to fill the space in any sized gallery, ferry, barn or other unusual exhibition space. An artist book publication accompanies the project designed by David Faithfull and supported by Creative Scotland.

EBBE+FLOW was launched at Visningsrommet USF, Bergen  (August 2021). It then travelled to Galleri Rustika, Holsnøy (Jan 2022) and An Tobar, Isle of Mull, Scotland (Sept – Nov 2022). Future confirmed venues are: Society of Scottish Artists 125th Exhibition, Edinburgh (16th Dec – 10th Jan 2023; TTaigh Chearsabhagh, North Uist (21st Jan – 29th April 2023); Grinneabhat, Lewis (May – June 2023)   For more information about the touring exhibition see the blog.

The Project is supported by: Creative Scotland, Norsk Kulturråd, City of Bergen, Vestland County Council, VACMA Highland Western Isles, Society of Scottish Artists and Bergen Ateliergruppe.
