In October Sarah Jost was an artist in residence at Mustarinda, Finland, spending time in and with it’s old growth forest. Listening, observing, writing, interacting, foraging, collecting, reading, exchanging thoughts and ideas with the other artists and reflecting on less anthropocentric ways of interacting with the world. On her way to Mustarinda she spent three weeks doing field studies in a production forest in Värmland, Sweden.
Sarah Jost is interested in the co-relation between plants – humans – and place, the migration and time perspective of trees put up against the ones of humans and how the concept of the «natural» is constantly being redefined.
